چکیده

The wide-angle screen propagator can be used for fast and accurate depth migration. In this study, we applied the method to the prestack depth migration of a complex 2D model. The model shows a number of challenging features to migration algorithms, e.g., strong velocity contrast and steep structures. Our results show that the wide angle algorithm gives good results in a complex model. We also studied the image from selected re ectors and artifacts using a shot versus position method. It reveals that the noise is mostly generated by the spreading of wave energy in the complex upper part of the salt body. We also suggest that the acquisition geometry share the responsability for imaging quality. The small aperture of shot-receiver combination prevented the wave traveling through the right part of the model to compensate that traveling through the salt.

Velocity Inversion with an Iterative Normal Incidence Point (NIP) Wave Tomography with Model-Based Common Diffraction Surface (CDS) Stack

Normal Incidence Point (NIP) wave tomography inversion has been recently developed to generate a velocity model using Common Reflection Surface (CRS) attributes, which is called the kinematic wavefield attribute. In this paper, we propose to use the model based Common Diffraction Surface (CDS) stack method attributes instead of data driven Common Reflection Surface attributes as an input data p...

Study of the influence of propagator amplitude correction on image amplitude using beamlet propagator with local WKBJ approximation

Localized WKBJ correction based on Local Cosine Basis (LCB) beamlet propagator is applied in postand pre-stack migration to study its influence on image amplitude. 2D SEG/EAGE salt model is used for demonstration. The results indicate that localized WKBJ correction have some improvement on the image amplitude though not very dramatic for 2D SEG/EAGE salt data with relatively smalloffset acquisi...

Modeling and imaging with the scalar generalized-screen algorithms in isotropic media

The phase-screen and the split-step Fourier methods, which allow modeling and migration in laterally heterogeneous media, are generalized here so as to increase their accuracies for media with large and rapid lateral variations. The medium is defined in terms of a background medium and a perturbation. Such a contrast formulation induces a series expansion of the vertical slowness in which we re...

Improving seismic image in complex structures by new solving strategies in the CO-CRS and the CO-CDS methods

Conventional seismic imaging possesses problem in exposing structural detail in complex geological media. Nevertheless, some recently introduced methods reduce this ambiguity to some extent, by using data based imaging operator or emancipation from the macro-velocity model. The zero offset common reflection surface (ZO-CRS) stack method is a velocity independent imaging technique which is frequ...
